Day On The Green – Potrero Hill, SF

On August 24, 2024, San Francisco’s Potrero Hill was alive with energy and excitement as it hosted its annual Day on the Green celebration. For the past two decades, this cherished event has been a beacon of Love, Life, Unity, Youth, and Community. This year marked the fourth consecutive appearance of Elders of the BloQK (EOB) at the festival, and it was undeniably one of our most rewarding experiences to date. Our chess booth was a hit as usual, thanks to the warm reception from both the staff and the community. The enthusiasm and curiosity about EOB were palpable, with many visitors stopping by to learn more about our mission. As always, our team was thrilled to engage with the youth and share the timeless game of chess. In addition to the vibrant interactions and strategic games, I personally enjoyed the free chicken and waffles from the catering truck, an unexpected treat that made the day even more special. And let’s not forget the relaxing free massage which was the perfect way to unwind after a day of intense chess matches. Our team continued our winning streak in chess throughout the day adding to the celebration’s success. A big shout-out to the incredible EOB staff, board members, and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
